In quite a few car parks in Austria you will find a „Kurzparkzone“-sign, which means that you can only park for a limited time. If you park your car in a “Kurzparkzone“ you need to display a “Parkuhr/Parkscheibe” (“parking clock”) in your front screen, and adjust the time you leave your car there. Please note that the sign will tell you how long you are allowed to park for. If you park in the “Kurzparkzone“ for longer than stated, or you don’t display the clock then you will have to pay a penalty. You can purchase the “parking clocks” at car supply shops and at the majority of petrol stations. However in other car parks (normally marked with blue lines) you need to pay a parking fee and display the ticket in your front screen.
